MOMENTA Biennale d’art contemporain

Catapulta supported the presentation of Paula Valero Comín’s project, “The Resistant Herbarium Rosa Luxemburg” at the 19th MOMENTA Biennale d’art contemporain (Montreal), which was curated by Marie-Ann Yemsi.

Launched in 2020, “The Resistant Herbarium” is an evolving project that has taken place in cities such as Palermo, Buenos Aires, Bilbao, Valencia, Havana, and Aubervilliers. It explores urban flora and highlights the vital role of women in protecting diverse forms of life. Each edition grows from the observation of local plants and the voices of women who care for them, building a transnational narrative of persistence and an intergenerational chain of care.

Paula Valero Comín (Valencia, 1976) is a transdisciplinary artist and cultural producer. She holds degrees from the College of Fine Arts in Valencia (2001) and the École Nationale Supérieure des Beaux-Arts de Paris (ENSBA, 2006), as well as a research doctorate in performance and activism. Her work spans drawing, public intervention, performance, video installation, and collaborative research.

Among her recent projects are the ongoing series “Disobedient Tributes” (since 2019), presented at the Centro de la Imagen (Mexico City), Conde Duque (Madrid), and Tabakalera (San Sebastián); and “Extraordinary Actions” at Matadero Madrid (2018) and at ENSBA in Paris (2023). In 2024, the Jeu de Paume (Paris) hosted “To Have Time,” a participatory choir created with Anouch High Soul and the Jardin des Vertus collective of Aubervilliers.
