Laura López Paniagua is a curator and researcher specializing in contemporary art, based in Madrid. She has curated projects such as Loving the Alien at La Casa Encendida; H. R. Giger x Hans Bellmer at Schinkel Pavillon; Roman Lipski: This Permanent Other Landscape at Julia Stoschek Collection; and À Gisèle at Travesía Cuatro. Her work has developed in dialogue with artists including Mike Kelley, Hito Steyerl, John Miller, Kiki Smith, Sandra Mujinga, and La Chola Poblete, as well as with leading curatorial and institutional figures such as Ralph Rugoff and Catherine Wood.
She holds a PhD in Art History from the Complutense University of Madrid, with a research trajectory linked to Freie Universität Berlin. Her work operates at the intersection of curating, critical writing, and research. She is the author of the monograph Mike Kelley: Materialist Aesthetics and Memory Illusions (Mousse Publishing, 2020; 2nd ed., 2025) and has contributed to internationally recognized publications and catalogues such as La Biennale di Venezia, Tate, Pinault Collection, ARoS Aarhus Kunstmuseum, Mishkin Gallery / Pioneer Works, and La Casa Encendida.
She has taught courses, lectures, and masterclasses at institutions including the Royal Academy of Arts, Hauser & Wirth, Barnard College / Columbia University, Bard College Berlin, NYU Madrid, and CIS Endicott College Madrid.
